Artist's Comments

An Artist Trading Card or ACEO of an Akhal Teke.
I'll be doing a card trade with *lefty59 and since I'd never drawn on such a small scale (it's 2.5 by 3.5inch) I figured I could use some practice.

And what else to draw but my favourite breed?
Before you complain about how small this scan is: this is BIGGER than the original size. 2.5 by 3.5 inch or 64 by 89mm.

Done on heavy grain (as in rough) watercolour paper in mechanical pencil. What did I learn? These things are hard to plan on such a small scale! D=

Also: this horse has hardly a mane and no forelock because it's typical for the breed. This is a very typey Teke, trust me.

Enjoy. This one MIGHT be available for trade. Note me if you're interested.

Yeah, aren't they an amazing breed? I just can't get enough of them and go all starry-eyed when looking at a Teke. :giggle:

Great job on the neck! You couldnt mistake him for any other breed. :D

That is insane detail for a tiny work of art! I can usually do small stuff, but only if I'm doodling in my notes :XD: Not if I actually want it to be small(ex. I had to do two 5x7 pieces for someone, but I had to scan and digitally shrink them to fit the dimensions...)

No, really! I'm sane! Well, that's what the voices tell me...

Where's my butt-skirt?

=D Thanks! I'm not really used to drawing that small. I learnt a long time ago to draw on a big scale. Smaller than 10 by 14 inch is miniature for me. X) Drawing so small is a challenge to fit on such a scale. I think starting with a breed I can draw without thought (because I'm so obsessed) was a good choice in this case.

Yeah. I like the neck myself, but then, I love the breed. It's funny how you're so obsessed with PRE horses and they do nothing for me and I bet Tekes do nothing for you. Hehe.

gracias! Then again, there aren't many Akhal Teke artists out there. I'm glad they're becoming better known now, though. Perhaps I should try and promote all the other Turanian horses. =D

Woah, 10 by 14 is small for you? Wow, I'm really used to 8x10, mainly because I sketch on Xerox paper ^^

When doing new things, it is always a good idea to do something you are familiar with! :D
