Akhal Teke mare

This was inspired after looking at photo's of the beautiful AT mare Selesta. I didn't exactly paint the same mare but it was inspired after her (no compositions were directly copied either).

A digital painting that took far longer than anticipated. I was planning to use this for a tutorial but a tutorial without a mane tutorial seems rather... silly.

Why she has no mane? AT manes are often shaved.
The proportions are fine, trust me: it's a very typical Teke.

Background was inspired after photo's of northern Africa (I forgot whether it was Algeria or Tunesia... oops).


This is not clip art. Prints may one day be available but for now this is for my portfolio only.

The painting isn't a mangled photo, nor is it directly copied off of anything. Unlike many so-called digital paintings this is an actual digital painting. This took effort, planning and technique. Keep that in mind. Countless layers went into this.
