Description
I wanted to paint something traditional and use lots of colour. Since I've been painting far too many Akhal Teke lately, I decided to pick a different desert horse this time: the Arab.
No references that I recall, painted from memory.
Approx. 11 by 18" on magnani 91lb fine paper. Mixed media (amongst conté, winsor & newton soft pastel, faber-castell willow charcoal). 1.5 hours solid.

he looks part of the desert itself... like he's just risen up from the sand. great choice of fiery colours for a flightly temperamental beast. I love these pieces where you can just let loose and have fun with the colour, I tried to paint one last night but I obviously wasn't in the right frame of mind because it was not a success. LOL
